IT Misuse and the HR Professional
IT
misuse is becoming one of the fastest-growing areas of crime or misdemeanour in the
workplace. It is also a fact that many cases of IT misuse are compromised within
the first 30 minutes of discovery as those to whom the problem is first reported
take inappropriate actions, not understanding the full ramifications of their
actions.
HR
professionals are increasingly becoming this first point of contact in the
reporting of such incidents. Called upon to initiate, oversee or assist with an
investigation, many HR managers find themselves in unfamiliar territory, not
realising that
their actions might
make or break the situation. It is a common misperception that HR procedures
have to conflict with investigative processes when this is not the case - it is
simply a question of understanding the big picture and developing aligned
strategies from the outset.
"IT misuse and the
HR Professional" is a unique one-day seminar, designed to provide
HR managers with a better understanding of the threat of IT misuse to the
organisation. Subjects covered include: potential sources of threat; how
misuse can be identified and investigated; the role HR professional can
play in the process; the handling of the investigation and the individuals
involved; and the steps needed to ensure a successful resolution.
